Awards

1. THMT Yasutaka Nagano Award for Early-Career Researcher Achievements

Number of the awards: 1 award for each THMT conference.
Age requirement: 40 y/o (inclusive).
Application package: 2 professional nomination letters + 1 CV of the nominee.
Award Items:
- a framed certificate/plaque.
- a cash award of $500 USD - Sponsored by Int. J. Heat Fluid Flow.

2. THMT Kemal Hanjalić Award for the Best Student Paper

Number of the awards: 2 awards for each THMT conference: 1 each for the sub-categories of “Fluids Mechanics”, and “Heat and Mass Transfer”.
Authorship Requirement: award recipient must be
- a student (at the time the paper was written)
- the lead/first author of the paper
- the presenter of the paper at the THMT conference.
Award Items:
- a framed certificate/plaque.
- 1 cash award of $500 USD for each of the two best paper awards (totaling $1000 USD) - Sponsored by Int. J. Heat Fluid Flow.

Grant

In accord with the general ICHMT policy, the Organizing Committee of THMT’27 will offer some financial support to students from the Developing Countries to encourage their participation in the symposium. Grants will cover the student registration fees. Note that we will offer the grant to only one successful student from each institution.

THMT-27 welcomes original contributions in turbulence, heat transfer, mass transfer, reacting flow, multiphase flow, experiments, modelling, and simulation.

Scope

Suggested topic areas include, but are not limited to:

Experiments, techniques and theories on scalar transport in forced, natural and mixed convection
Numerical simulations/modelling of turbulence, heat and mass transfer: DNS/LES, hybrid RANS/LES, DES, PANS, PDFs, (U)RANS, LBM
Unsteadiness, transients, and effect of body forces in turbulence, heat and mass transfer
Turbulence control and heat transfer enhancement
Heat and mass transfer in compressible and high-speed flows
AI and machine learning thermal fluids
Particulate matter and droplets
Combustion and chemically reacting flows
Environmental and geophysical flows and transport phenomena
Utilization of heat and mass transfer in energy, process and environmental technologies
MHD flows and micro/nano fluidics

Submission format

Authors are asked to submit an extended abstract consisting of a maximum of 3 pages (A4 or letter-size), including supporting illustrations as appropriate. It is recommended to use either the Microsoft Word, or Latex template provided, which contain all necessary styles and instructions. Registration

The fee covers the symposium proceedings (electronic format), refreshments and the social programme (receptions and symposium banquet). The registration fee for accompanying persons covers participation in the social programme. Please note that at least one standard or student registration is required per paper.

Registration and payment will be managed through Fourwaves, which is the same platform used for paper submissions. Please log-in and follow the guidelines for registration.

All submissions will be handled through Fourwaves. Authors must register an account with Fourwaves in order to submit an extended abstract of 3 pages. If accepted, authors will then be asked to submit a final paper of 6 to 8 pages. See the Call for Papers regarding a summary of deadlines. Further details are outlined below.

Authors are asked to submit an extended abstract consisting of a maximum of 3 pages (A4 or letter-size), including supporting illustrations as appropriate. It is recommended to use either the Microsoft Word, or Latex template provided, which contain all necessary styles and instructions. If you do not use LaTex, you can follow the instructions in a PDF form as a guideline for formatting and layout.
